Webhooks for merchant and payin updates
Rainforest has added webhooks to notify you and your merchants about changes to a merchant or their payins. These changes are typically made by Rainforest rather than initiated by you or your merchant. The following webhooks now give your support team or your merchants a way to know when action is needed.
- Merchant's deposit bank account updated
- Merchant's funding deposits disabled or enabled
- Merchant's billing deposits disabled or enabled
- Merchant's Accelerated ACH mode updated
- Payin's expected deposit date updated
Merchant updates
Deposit bank account updated
Webhook: merchant.deposit_routes_updated
Triggered when a merchant's deposit method is updated. Deposit routes define where the funds for a merchant's payments are deposited to. Merchants on net billing only have a PAYMENTS deposit route, while merchants on gross billing also have a BILLING deposit route. If your platform displays the merchant's deposit bank account, you should update their details to reflect the new deposit method.
Funding deposits disabled
Webhooks: merchant.funding_deposit_disabled
Triggered when a merchant's funding deposits are disabled, meaning the merchant will not receive funds for their payments. Rainforest will follow up with your platform to explain why the deposits were disabled. You should reach out to your merchant to help resolve the issue, which may involve collecting a new deposit method.
Funding deposits enabled
Webhooks: merchant.funding_deposit_enabled
Triggered when a merchant's funding deposits are re-enabled. The merchant will receive funds for their payments on the next available funding date, based on their funding deposit frequency. Let your merchant know that a funding deposit should be expected.
Billing deposits disabled
Webhooks: merchant.billing_deposit_disabled
This webhook only applies to merchants on gross billing, who receive a separate billing deposit. Triggered when a merchant's billing deposits are disabled, so their billing fees (which are typically collected as a negative deposit) will not process. Rainforest will follow up with your platform to explain why the deposits were disabled. You should reach out to your merchant to help resolve the issue, which may involve collecting a new deposit method.
Billing deposits enabled
Webhooks: merchant.billing_deposit_enabled
This webhook also only applies to merchants on gross billing. Triggered when a merchant's billing deposits are re-enabled. The billing deposit will process on the next available billing date, based on the merchant's billing deposit frequency. Let your merchant know that a billing deposit should be expected.
Accelerated ACH mode updated
Webhook: merchant.accelerated_ach_updated
Triggered when a merchant's Accelerated ACH mode is updated. Rainforest reserves the right to disable the Accelerated ACH feature for any merchant at any time to manage real or perceived risk, and when that happens, the mode is set to DISABLED_BY_RAINFOREST. In that case, you should let your merchant know that their ACH payments are not currently eligible for acceleration. If the mode is set to ENABLED or DISABLED, then notify the merchant whether their payments are eligible for acceleration accordingly.
Payin updates
Expected deposit date updated
Webhook: payin.expected_deposit_date_updated
Triggered when a payin's expected deposit date is updated. This can happen because of a change to the merchant's deposit frequency, their payin release delay days, or a risk hold. You should notify your merchant that the expected deposit date for their payin has changed.
