Onboarding merchants via Portal

Using the Rainforest Platform Portal to onboard a merchant manually

The Rainforest Platform Portal has the option to use the Merchant Onboarding Component to input merchant onboarding information on behalf of your merchants.

Create a new merchant

On the Merchants tab, a list of current merchants and their statuses are displayed. Click the "+ Add new merchant" in the top right corner.

Create the merchant by entering a unique friendly name, most commonly the Doing Business As (DBA) name, and the billing profile.

Edit the merchant application

Once the merchant has been created, their name will appear in the list of merchants with the Pending status. Expand the merchant details by selecting their name and click the "Edit" button, which will open the merchant application.

Complete the application

The first step will ask for a name, which can be a control person or the owner of the business.

Next, select the merchant's organization type. The Merchant Onboarding Component will dynamically adjust to request the information to meet the requirements to underwrite the merchant.

Organization Types

Organization TypeDefinition
Individual / Sole-ProprietorOwner is the single operator of the business, uses their SSN, and is unincorporated.
Limited Liability Corporation (LLC)A separate entity from the owner(s), can have multiple members, and has a registered EIN.
Limited Liability Partnership (LLP)A separate entity from the owner(s), can have multiple members, and has a registered EIN.
PartnershipA separate entity from the owner(s), can have multiple members, and has a registered EIN.
Private CorporationAn incorporated business for the profit of its members and has a registered EIN.
Public CorporationAn incorporated business whose shares are traded freely on a stock exchange.
Non-Profit Organization / 501c3A classified tax-exempt business under the IRS tax code.
GovernmentA business entity created or owned by a national or local government, either through an executive order or legislation.

Continue to enter in the requested information as if the merchant was completing the application, selecting Next step to progress through the application.

Addresses, both for the business address and owner address, require physical locations. PO Boxes are not accepted.

On the Review step, confirm the inputted information is accurate and use the "Edit" button to update any information.

After the application has been reviewed, click the checkbox for I attest the merchant has agreed to the Terms of Service then click Confirm & submit.

The merchant application will move to the status of Processing and will be reviewed by Rainforest.
